Federico Waksman pre-registered for the Globe40 2028-2029!
Winner of the 2023 Mini Transat in the Proto class, Federico Waksman is continuing his rise in offshore racing with a major new challenge: a Class40 circumnavigation in the Globe40 2028-2029.
The first and only South American to have won the Mini Transat, the Uruguayan skipper has since made his mark in numerous events, including victories in the Solo Med, Plastimo Lorient, Transgascogne and Mini Fastnet, as well as a bronze medal at the 2025 Mixed Double-Handed Offshore Racing World Championship.
The Globe40 is a natural progression in his career, with an ambition that goes beyond sporting performance: raising the profile of offshore racing in Latin America and helping make it accessible to as many people as possible.
Since 2023, Federico has also supported two community sailing schools in Uruguay, Viento en Popa and Sudestada, giving children from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to discover sailing thanks to donated and reused equipment.
💬 “This round-the-world race should give this project the visibility it deserves.”
Through the Globe40, Federico also aims to carry the colors of Uruguay around the world and make this project a true link between performance, knowledge-sharing and the development of sailing in Latin America.
Welcome Federico!
