5th pre-registration for the Globe40 2028-2029!

Brian McVickers, American skipper, joins the list of pre-registered sailors for the third edition of the Globe40, with Graeme Esarey as co-skipper.

We had the pleasure of meeting Brian last April on the pontoons at Lorient La Base, where he had travelled all the way from Arizona to attend the Globe40 finish. Quite a journey, and a great reflection of his passion for offshore racing!

With more than 45,000 nautical miles sailed, including a passage through the Northwest Passage, as well as crossings of the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea, Brian has extensive offshore sailing experience. Alongside him, Graeme Esarey has logged more than 150,000 nautical miles, with several Transpac races, a victory in the Race to Alaska, and, like Brian, a passage through the Northwest Passage.

For these two American sailors, the Globe40 represents the culmination of an ambition inspired from a young age by the great round-the-world races.

For more than 20 years, Brian has been sharing his stories, expeditions and adventures through Overland Collective, a world dedicated to exploration and adventure. A new story begins today around the Globe40.  Overland Collective

The skippers’ words: “Racing around the world by sail has been an ambition of mine for as long as I can remember, ever since I grew up sailing and racing dinghies and keelboats. Watching races such as the BOC Challenge/Around Alone, the Whitbread and many other events, all the way through to the Vendée Globe, this idea gradually took shape. Inspired even further by the America’s Cup, the Olympic Games and the evolution of international competition, the goal of becoming a professional racing sailor became a clear ambition.

The Globe40 brings together high-level offshore racing, ocean crossings, discovering the world and immersing yourself in different cultures along the way. The goal of the McVickers Ocean Racing campaign is to build an international and competitive racing team while experiencing the extraordinary adventures that the Globe40 offers.

We will document the process and the people we meet along the way, with the aim of inspiring others, helping them learn and encouraging them to pursue their own ambitions.

We also want to introduce the public to the many careers and professional pathways available in the maritime and marine industries, and contribute to their development and long-term future.”
