BREAKING NEWS: LEADER CHANGE – CREDIT MUTUEL TAKES THE LEAD IN THE FINAL GLOBE40 LEG
On the 6th day of racing since the start in Recife, the CREDIT MUTUEL team of Ian Lipinski and Antoine Carpentier has regained the lead in today’s 14.00 rankings.
Since the start, the BELGIUM OCEAN RACING – CURIUM team of Jonas Gerckens and Benoit Hantzperg had been in the lead with impressive speed and judicious sail choices for navigating the doldrums. The westward shift proved to be a sound investment for the French team, which seems to have settled into a good course and good speed as it heads north towards the Azores archipelago, which it will have to round.
The epic saga of the GLOBE40, unfolding over the past seven months, and the duel between the best of enemies—or rather, friends—is far from over before the arrival in Lorient.
Beware, there are still approximately 3,600 miles to go!
